The company O3 PROTÉGELO, S.L. offers BRIGADIER GENERAL Ricardo Roque Salcedo to carry out a self-monitoring of atmospheric pollutant gas emissions from a diesel engine, in order to determine the emission levels that these engines may produce.
The purpose of this report is to document the results of the measurements of atmospheric pollutant gas emissions, before and after the installation of a hydrocarbon catalyst supplied by the manufacturer O3 Protégelo, S.L., and thereby obtain comparative results.
According to the previously established plan, measurements are taken of CO, NOx, O₂, HC, CO₂, and opacity (ENGINE RUNNING), in order to determine the composition of the gases emitted by the engine through the exhaust pipe.
Specifically, measurements are taken on the diesel engine of a NISSAN HCI-394 TRUCK. Multiple measurements are performed on the engine to evaluate the efficiency of the installed O3 Protégelo device.
The engine analyzed is as follows:
1 – Diesel engine of a NISSAN HCI-394 TRUCK
For the measurements, the vehicle was located at ENGINEER BATTALION N13.
The following measurements were performed:
-
Gas measurement with engine running, without the device.
-
Opacity measurement without the device.
-
Gas measurement with engine running, with the device installed.
-
Opacity measurement with the device.
Measurements were carried out under optimal ambient temperature conditions.
The exhaust gas readings were taken at a single sampling point located inside the exhaust pipe, 20 centimeters from the exhaust outlet to the atmosphere. The location of the sampling point, the duration of the measurements, and the measurement method were all agreed upon in advance.
Atmospheric emissions control was conducted by the Technical Manager of O3 PROTÉGELO, Isidro Moreno.
The engine was kept running for 20 minutes to reach optimal and stable temperature before taking the measurements. Several sample readings were taken to obtain an average measurement with the engine running.
The methodology used involved taking readings with an electrochemical cell device programmed to collect stable data from several measurements, resulting in an average of the values obtained.
The equipment used was properly calibrated according to the standards required by CLM Centro de Laboratorios de Madrid, for the measurement of pollutant gases emitted into the atmosphere.
This document presents the results obtained for each of the vehicles, according to the conditions determined by the technician during the sampling process.
After the installation of the O3 Protégelo device in the fuel line, the opacity (MOT/ITV) is significantly reduced.
It should be noted that, as HC (hydrocarbons) decrease, the resulting soot becomes more powdery and easier to eliminate. CO (carbon monoxide) is considerably reduced, O₂ (oxygen) increases slightly, improving combustion, and both NOx and CO₂ decrease because gas elimination becomes cooler, under higher pressure, and with less fuel. Idle opacity is also significantly reduced.
These emission parameters indicate a notable improvement in combustion and engine performance in the NISSAN HCI-394 TRUCK.
OBSERVATIONS:
This engine is in good working condition.
After a short period of operation, these results are expected to improve further, due to the internal cleaning of the combustion chamber.
